Hi all!
I know that the site isn't finished yet. But I suppose that Sway (and the webmaster) would be happy about everything that can improve the site.

So that's why I started this thread, but I hope that I won't be the only poster here...

Oh
I missed this thread. Didn't expected it in the FAQ section. Sorry, that I started a new thread with ... almost the same meaning in the General Discussion Forum.

Hi webmaster!

Here comes my first wish for improving the site: May we have the possibility to upload pics from our local PCs for the posts, as we can already do it with our avatar? Otherwise, every pic would have to be put on the internet somewhere...

Thanx & Greetz

Hey Michael,

that's really a good idea! Most visitor don't have an own website so I will make it possible that everyone can add exactly one picture to a post (filesize limited to 70kb)... is that what you mean?
Thanks for this idea to improve this site.

That's it. The idea came into my mind when Pete and I were discussing about Sway's avatar and A.J., where I wanted to post Sway's avatar in my post, because the internet address of her avatar might change when she changes her avatar pic. In general, it's useful to be able to upload pics from your local computer, as we all surely have pics on our computer that we don't know the internet address.

And here comes another improvement: Would it be possible to "anchor" every post and to put a internal link on it, i.e. on the post time at the top of each post? This way, you could directly refer to one's post (with another Javascript button creating the link at the reply site), which makes it easier to follow the discussion when not answering to the last post in a thread.
Technically, I have no solution at the moment, but if I get one, I will post it I think the difficulty is to have some ID to each post (which must be unique so that you can, when replying, easily insert that ID and pack the link around with Javascript).

ADD: I just have seen that it is possible to cite any post, so the difficult part has already been solved
Now it might be easy to anchor and link the post so that you can look it up fast and easily if you have forgotten what the content was.
I think, as the cite function quotes the whole post, that this is not the best solution because posts will become very long and threads will even become longer. At least, everyone should be familiar with quoting, so that has not worst effects, but perhaps there's also a solution for this...

I have two suggestions for the gallery.

As you have perhaps noticed people often tell which picture they like most in the comments. So it would be nice to be able to vote for pictures. Something like a 1..10 scale. After a while you can use this to build a best of sway gallery - perhaps even automatic.

It would be nice to have some text in the galleries. Some words about the setting, the clothes you wear. We would sure be also interested where we can buy the same clothes. Perhaps you can even write some personal notes like how the shooting went, reactions of people in a public setting, some funny stories about what went wrong

Hi Michael,
to your first improvement: I'm not sure whether I understood you correctly.
You need a "overview" what was written while you write a reply, right? I think the best solution for this problem would be to add the current thread under the reply textbox. To optimize I think it would be the best to use smaller characters as in the forum, no avatar and displayed in a reverse order. This is what I plan to do soon! Would that solution be similar to your improvement?

To the cite problem there is really a simple solution! Make the quote shorter! What I want to say: If you quote a post you get the post as a text and you have the chance to "edit" this quote. I hope nobody will chance the written content but so you are able to extract the "important" part which you want to quote. (That can be one, two or more sentences...) Is that better?

Hi Norman!
The reply topic: You may have missed that I edited that post (there's an ADD). When being logged in, there's a "quote" function above each post, and that's the solution to reply to any post in a thread.
So, in this case and as you state it, you have to shorten the quote to the essential aspects, that means to the words you want to reply. I agree here too.

In fact, these two points (replying, quoting) are already realised and solved. So this is from my last post:
Quote
Now it might be easy to anchor and link the post so that you can look it up fast and easily if you have forgotten what the content was.

The key thing is that you might want to look for the original posting when the thread is long, perhaps just to get the context, or you want to quote a post from another thread. Then you may want to link the original post, which is impossible at the moment because every new post is bound to one thread. With an ID in the quote tag, you could quote every post that you want to... just like News /Usenet! But I'm not sure if that is really needed.

A more urgent need is to be able to realise that a post has been edited. Perhaps an "added" button would be nice (to mark new text if one wishes), and at least date and time of last change. Otherwise, you only can guess that this "ADD" in my former post means that I wrote the post, recognized some error, and edited the post respectively wrote some new lines.

Hi Norman!
Have you looked into he very old galleries? The smileys again they're not missing, but they've been rudely transformed to text... looking funny

Are you gonna change that? I thought some of these galleries should not have been shown any more (Sway?) ? Although some are really great and worth viewing.

Just wanted to mention that.

Hi Norman,

I have an little idea for this wonderful homepage:
What do you think about a tiny logo in the adressfield of the browser like http://www.funmode.de/ have. You know I mean in front of the http://... in the browser.
That makes this page more individual.

Have a nice weekend!

Hi Beos,

that's a good idea! Once I added a favicon (that's the "name" for the small symbol) which worked very fine but at the moment it doesn't and I don't know why...
I will analyze that!

Hi Norman again.

I think I know where the problem is.
If you use IE and add a favorite to your favorite list IE is looking for a file "favicon.ico" After bookmarking the icon should appear in the favorite list and in the adress bar. If you delete your temporary internet files the icons are also deleted and IE does not reload them again

Cause after I re-bookmarked some pages the icon were back again...

Just place the favicon.ico in the main directory or in every directory if you like to have different ones. IE looks automaticly in the actual directory for an icon.

Chears!

Hi Beos,

and thank you for inform about this ie "bug"! I already placed the favicon in the root dir but I also missed the icon like you... it seems I also deleted the temp dir!

Furthermore you have to place an icon in every subdirectory.
Cause I have an icon of this homepage only in the root-directory. After choosing the language the icon disappears...
Cheers!

... that was my fault! I added in the header the line <link rel="shortcut icon" href = "favicon.ico"> but I forgot the slash at begin of the href entry ... now it should work fine with the new icon/symbol.

New input: how about a supplement-section for your shootings with information about the particular outfits? "some people" might be interested where these hot things come from... Or do you have an agreement with your "sponsors"logo-owner, so you won't practice any advertisement for other shops/manufactures?
Btw ------- We regret the loss of those beautiful slim pictures which illustrated the different categories

First we also regret the loss of the slim side pictures but as you've recognized there was no room! We've optimized the page for a 1024er resolution and added the sponsors-area. The result was someone to have one's ass on the line!

As regards to the supplement section we had elect the information block below the thumbnails, but you are right! There isn't currently findable an information box in the new set! But the reason is simple: We don't find the time to write some lines there.
In fact we've decided to use this box for something more as a simple information where we bought some latex stuff as like in the Red Devil Session. We want describe a little bit how this session arose and what happend there, if we find something to write!

Thank you friends for your nice help!

Wow! This site has been going for four years! Are you still interested in suggestions?

How about a competition to come up with the best fantasy idea for a photoshoot, with the winner being allowed to come along and watch?
